Engagement Rings; The Many Styles of Love
Before the wedding comes the engagement and with it the ring! Engagement rings come in all manners of styles so how do you choose? Read on and we’ll tell you more. This time on the Stewart Kuper Jewelers Blog: Engagement Rings, the Many Styles of Love!
Engagement Ring Styles and You
The Solitaire
One of the most popular styles is the Solitaire, simple and elegant. The Solitaire engagement ring is a simple band with a single stone. It is a tried and true classic, the diamond drawing the focus. The solitaire: simple, classic, elegant. We don’t need to say much more than that.
The Pavé
The Pavé is specifically a type of stone setting where many smaller diamonds are set into the piece. Similarly, the pavé style engagement ring is defined by the setting of smaller stones along the band. It can also be called a bead setting or micro-pavé if the stones are particularly small.
The Halo
The Halo style engagement ring features a central diamond surrounded by a ‘halo’ of smaller stones. The band can have stones or be unadorned. The halo of stones enhances the dazzle of the central stone, dramatically increasing the stone’s visual impact.
The Three-Stone
The Three Stone engagement ring approach is; less is more. The central stone is flanked by two smaller, identical stones on either side. The central stone is traditionally a round or fancy cut diamond and the flanking stones can be diamonds or other precious stones. These are sometimes referred to as a trinity or trilogy ring.
While typically styles refer to the arrangement of stones on the ring (whether in the setting or band), there are an astounding number of different variables that can make each ring unique.
Channel Set
Channel Set engagement rings are similar to the Pavé in that smaller stones are set along the band. In a channel set ring, however, they are held in place by two parallel ‘walls’ of metal. In the image provided, you can see how the stones have settings but the sides of the ring are raised above the stones.
There are many different combinations of engagement rings available. These are just a few of the more common styles. Want to see more?
