A Guide to Custom Engagement Rings

Shopping for an engagement ring is an incredible once in a lifetime experience. When you propose, the ring serves as a symbol of your everlasting love. You want it to be perfect. You want it to be unique, beautiful, and timeless in appearance. One of the best ways to accomplish this is to have a custom ring made just for you. What better way to create a lasting statement of your love?

Start Early

Having a custom ring made will be a more involved and time-consuming process than just picking out a ring from the jewelry store. It is wise to start early. Even for a straightforward design, plan to give the jeweler at least two weeks for the ring to be made. More complex rings can take two months or more. And this does not account for the planning and design process. The earlier you start the custom ring process, the better. There is no need to subject yourself to extra stress.

Ask Your Fiancée

During the custom ring making process, you will be working with an expert jeweler, who knows all there is to know about the 4Cs and how to shape and design a beautiful custom ring. However, they do not know your fiancée. They don’t know what her tastes are. They don’t know what she likes and dislikes. That is your job!

Don’t be afraid to ask direct questions regarding her taste in rings. There are two subjects you want to become familiar with, her preference in diamonds, and her preference on ring style. Ask other questions such as, “do you like a modern or classic look for your jewelry?” Finally, make sure you know her ring size. Nothing puts a damper on a proposal quite as fast as a ring that doesn’t fit.
