Birthstones and Meanings (October – December)

October- Pink Tourmaline/ Opal

October technically has two gemstones, even though the more popular of the two is opal. Either way, both hold the same symbolic significance: hope, creativity, and innocence. Both have also been noted to ward off against various evils, as well as hold various healing properties. People in ancient times would also wear the gemstone to protect their eyesight!

November- Topaz/ Citrine

While topaz is more easily recognizable than citrine, the former has an interesting meaning. Citrine has been deemed as the “stone of the mind” in many cultures, and is believed to increase intellect while simultaneously removing negativity in the mind. What’s really interesting about both of these stones are that they are said to protect the wearer from negative people who might try to come into their lives, which means the wearer will only be surrounded by good company.

December- Zircon/ Tanzanite/ Turquoise

December might have a lot of birthstones, but the most popular is turquoise. Most popular in Native American jewelry, turquoise is said to change color if the wearer is about to become ill or is in danger. These stones are also associated with qualities like good health, keeping away evil spirits, and protecting the wearer from any harm.
