Tips For Traveling With Jewelry
When you are planning to travel, you want to do so in style. What is vacation about if not enjoying yourself? It might be hard to enjoy yourself fully during a night out on the town in New York, Miami, Los Angeles, or Paris if you do not have your jewelry with you. However, there are risks to traveling with jewelry. That last thing you want is for a piece to be lost. Your jewelry has incredible worth both monetarily and emotionally. Next time you go on vacation, follow Stewart Kuper Jeweler’s tips for traveling with jewelry.
- Photograph Before You Leave
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. In this case, a picture could be worth the exact value of your jewelry. If a piece is lost, you can use a photo of the piece to inform people what it looks like to help them find it. The photo is also a good way to prove that a piece that has been lost and found is truly yours.
- Carry-On Comfort
Almost anyone who frequently travels can share a story of their luggage being lost. It happens. If you want to be sure your jewelry will never be lost along with your luggage (should that happen) travel with it in your carry-on bag.
- Organize and Pack Appropriately
Every piece of jewelry is different which means it is important to pack appropriately. Pill boxes are great for packing earrings. Individual pieces of small jewelry, such as rings, can be stored in small, individual plastic bags. However, avoid storing pearls in plastic bags for extended periods of time! For necklaces, string the chain through a plastic straw to prevent them from becoming tangled.
Our most important tip is that more is not always better. When traveling with jewelry, take only what you need. Avoid over-packing and over-complicating the trip.
